DTMF: using your cell phone as remote controller for robots
- Take note: use 1% resistors and 5% capacitors.
- Mind the GSM/CDMA network delay! The delay can be bigger than 0.5s. So, no real time control for robots. But, still quite a cool way to control it. And with some practice you will be able to foresee when to press the keys.
The PCB layout, for the lazy ones, and the trial using a breadboard.
The board below is intended to control a soccer video game using as input the DTMF signals of three different cell phones. (note that we are not using the BCD-to-Decimal converters - 74LS47 - here, the outputs of the MT8870 are going to a microcontroller). When the picture was taken only the first decoder was working, the other two had a 1K resistor missing.
